Quotes of note from 2008
So many notable quotes, so little space to recount them -- that's the annual conundrum as we think back on the year and recall comments that stuck with us long after they were uttered. We've assembled some of those notable comments from stories we wrote and stories we read and offer them here in not-quite chronological order because we wanted to let Oracle CEO Larry Ellison have the last word.
What Larry Ellison has in common with Mr. Burns
Oracle CEO Larry Ellison, who recently asked for a 38 percent pay increase and got it (despite objections from some Oracle shareholders), is now the third-richest man in America, and is poised to take home a bonus of $13.6 million for Oracle's upcoming fiscal year, which excludes his annual salary (around $1 million), options granted by Oracle's compensation committee, and whatever he decides to exercise in stock options for the year. (For the record, Ellison exercised $544 million in stock options last year, which is not included in his annual compensation figures.)

Judge raps Oracle CEO Ellison over missing email
Oracle CEO Larry Ellison failed to preserve emails as well as interview materials related to a book called "Softwar" that should have been supplied in connection with a shareholder lawsuit filed in March 2001 against the company, a federal judge ruled on Tuesday.
